An HHR might be useful if you had to move things but didn't want a huge SUV or van. But I think it gets a bad knock because the EA is filled with tons of them.
I think the bad knock comes from the fact that not only is it a direct competitor to the oh-so-beloved PT Cruiser, it was even designed by the same guy. That said, I'd still attempt to keep an open mind were I given a chance to drive an HHR.
