Rome in the winter

I posted more info about my plans in the general Europe forum but I thought I would ask more Rome specific questions in here.

I will be in Europe in February and I was planning to spend 4-5 days in Rome. I'm looking for all of the normal suggestions and tips. Where to stay, where to eat, what to see and do. Also, I will be traveling alone and I'm a somewhat young female so nay safety concerns or etiquite tips you can think of are greatly appreciated.

I'm found a tentative hotel near the Termini station so getting around the city should be very easy. My Italian is virtually non-existent but my French is decent (I should be able to read a good bit of Italian) and I always carry a phrase book.

Weather concerns? It's not raining in Rome in February, is it? I know it won't be warm but as long as I'm comfortable in long pants and a coat, I'll be fine. My trip is not set at all yet so I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks!
