It is possible the info on website is a little rubbery.

Website says no stopovers psosible on awards. UA just tells me on phone after much reading of the rules a SYD-PEK-ULN routing will allow a PEK stop as: "it is the most direct route" (Durhhh!) so quite possibly routes other than code shares wil accrue miles?
