Well, my first try as a PM was a spectacular miss. DL481 JFK-MEX Saturday morning, on a 757. Somehow I thought that would be an easy one... right until finding out on the spot that they rolled out a BE-configured plane, with only 16 F seats. I was #5 of 10 or 11 for 0 open seats, thank you...
Had it been a regular 757 with, what is it, 24 or 26 F, there would've been no problem -- like there wasn't on the return leg, DL484 two days later. There, I ended up with my upgrade actually waiting for me... when I approached the GA and asked humbly about the status of my upgrade request, he went: "Aaah! I've been paging you for half an hour now!" And handed me the already-printed BP
Closing this year at 21/25 (most of those as FO), minus one that I gave up together with my 4-hour-late flight, plus one unexpected and certainly nice TATL op-up. Last trip of the year -- TATL -- coming up next week, but I don't need no upgrades for that one -- I'm already in the right part of the bus ^^
