Actually there IS a (quiet) siren that sounds in the doorway between the escalator landing and the hallway outside the 1st lounge. I always had a sneaking suspicion that it might be a fiendishly ingenious way of alerting someone to the fact that I had yet again filched some newspapers from the lounge, but today I heard it going in as well. Maybe it's supposed to wake them all up if someone comes along?
