But that is why they scan the BP, so it can correlate with the database which has your current status. Right? You obviously don't get elite bonus miles credit when you aren't elite, so there is a database somewhere which knows your current true status, right? Isn't that what they query when they scan the BP?
Anyhow on my last trip into the F lounge, while flying ET, they did not ask for my Gold card. They just scanned my print-out BP.
