AA and others hhave been offering this route (via ORD or JFK) for $400+ RT at various times over the last 3 months. So I am not all that overwhelmed by the "sale"

why are ua sale fares so pathetic? maybe ua should consider elimination of discount coach entirely and cater to business and premium travelers since its leisure fares are rarely competitive.
