My comment was tongue in cheek. My first year as MVPG, I qualified for MVP (silver -haha) a few months prior. The card I received was actually green. I know AS recently changed vendors so I'm not really sure what color they are now. I went from Gold to mold last year.
I had a confirmed upgrade on the lowest coach fare class. Days in advance too. That is extremely generous to offer the F baggage allowance on an upgraded garbage fare.
On most airlines it doesn't matter how you got into FC (elite upgrade, miles, purchased F...) as long as you're confirmed in FC prior to checking bags you get the FC bag allowance.
