Further the headline discounted rates are often only between city pares and the booking sites won't test split ticket journeys.

I'd also say that the Manchester Picadilly -> Manchester Airport service is efficient and very reasonably prices (when compared to services to certain services serving london airports).

If you can get a good fare to Manchester just get the airport leg separately.

I'd urge you to check exactly where you hotel is re the airport particularly if you want to come and go easily.
