Traditionally, if the originating airline has an interline baggage agreement with the continuing airline, there should be no problem in through-checking bags. Since Thai is a fellow-member with SAS of the Star Alliance, such an interline arrangement is fully established. However, in August of 2007 SAS formally announced that through-checking on separate tickets of either pax or bags would no longer be permitted, even if both flights were on SAS itself! Since then I have not seen any official notification that this policy has been rescinded but...I can testify that in practice it is not always enforced. A few weeks ago I embarked at ORD for CPH with another SAS flight in store upon arrival. Since it was on a separate ticket, the CI agent at ORD didn't see it in his system until I showed him the e-ticket printout and asked to be through-checked. He then happily tagged my bag to the final destination and even gave me my BP for the second flight. YMMV.
