OK - so a phone rigged as part of an IED is hidden in the sole of a shoe. It warrants extra scrutiny. How the hell is TSA going to know what a cell phone is rigged to do, whether it was concealed or sitting in the little dish?

I concur with the earlier post that slams the idea that anything which is an anomaly immediately requires scrutiny and referenced the Macbook with solid state drive, the homemade battery, etc.

Honestly, I do artfully conceal things on my person including cash, cards, keys and sometimes the phone. None of these are prohibited items for international air travel. I have been mugged in broad daylight at a busy intersection with plenty of people nearby before. Screw the policy that says I may pose a risk requiring additional scrutiny. I'm merely protecting myself in advance.
