I flew this year a lot and got about 80% domestic flights upgraded:

JFK-LAX 3 times
LAX/ONT-ATL 2 times
ATL-JFK 4 times

i was only FO this year and all flown itins included international connections to Germany if that matters for upgrades. not sure.
