I've never experienced this attitude and I just finished visiting three RCCs and one US Air club on a fully domestic USA trip, and was pleasantly welcomed at all of them using my AE STARGold card but having my UA Premier STARSilver showing on the boarding pass. (Now officially UA STARGold too having made PremEx on the second segment of last week's trip.) Why should the US carriers object? They get paid U$25 a visit by AC and have SFA to offer in the way of food or drink that doesn't cost at a paid bar. We've actually a profit centre for them.
