Do you envision this being a problem? Should I call reservations to split the reservation before day of travel, or should I just show up at the airport and take care of it there?

Thanks!
It would be alot easier if you both went on the same flights but the agents at the airport can split your res. If you have status on US or *G you don't pay the change fee. You are allowed to stand by if there aren't any seats avalible. Although many times in DCA they just ask if there is anyone on the later flight to come up as there is space and don't charge. But make sure your PNR is split before going through security many GA don't know how to do this as it is a TA function...
