DCA-YOW Storm delay planning

We listen to Ottawa CBO Morning, online, when we travel and were aware of the storm that hit YOW today.

I've been watching AC and they canceled the morning DCA flights and then, sometime after 4, canceled the 20:30 flight after claiming it was on-time all day.

We weren't affected by that since we are on the 20:30 flight tomorrow but AC has already canceled the morning flights.

I guess I'm asking what happened to the three plane loads of passengers from the canceled flights and what are my chances of getting home tomorrow night? The snow is supposed to stop around noon.

On the other hand, the only flights canceled out of YOW tomorrow are the two to Washington, Boston, New York and Winnipeg. Toronto and Montreal are supposed to be getting the same storm but AC is claiming they will be flying to those destinations tomorrow morning.

I have booked a hotel for here, just in case, but have to cancel by 6 p.m. or pay for a room I might not use. I can fly out on alternate flights at any time tomorrow after noon but am not sure if AC will change my flights for free. (I don't intend to pay since any routing I get will not be direct and leave me open to being stranded in some other city.)

Aside from packing with overnight stuff in our carry-on bags (in case the flight is canceled after we check our bags), is there anything else I can be doing? I don't absolutely have to get home but would rather be home than stuck here when there's work waiting for me to do when I get home.
