There are lots of changes happening with YYC TransAt market right now.
- LH is switching from the 333 to 343 and will no longer have F. J class is about similar and there is an increase in Y. AC has also upguaged their FRA service from 763 to 333.
- The biggest decrease in service comes from BA, which transfers from 4 class 772 to a 3 class (no F) 763.
- AC also removed two flights per week from YYC-LHR to YEG-LHR giving their LHR run 12 weekly frequencies with 7 333s and 5 763s.
Overall here is how the YYC TransAt market breaks down for seats:
Code:
YYC Transatlantic service - Summer 08 Weekly Seats
F J Y Total
AC 333 LHR daily - 259 1,596 1,855
AC 763 LHR 5 wkly - 120 935 1,055
AC 333 FRA daily - 259 1,596 1,855
AC Total - 638 4,127 4,765
BA 763 LHR daily - 168 1,176 1,344
LH 343 FRA daily - 308 1,554 1,862
KL 332 AMS 5 wkly - 150 1,105 1,255
- 1,264 7,962 9,226
YYC Transatlantic service - Summer 07
F J Y Total
AC 333 LHR daily - 294 1,596 1,890
AC 763 LHR daily - 120 935 1,055
AC 763 FRA daily - 168 1,309 1,477
AC Total - 582 3,840 4,422
BA 772 LHR daily 98 336 1,169 1,603
LH 333 FRA daily 56 336 1,155 1,547
KL 332 AMS none - - - -
154 1,254 6,164 7,572
Seat difference (154) 10 1,798 1,654
From the above analysis there is a significant drop off for F/J premium seats but a significant larger Y cabin. The challenge for the comming summer schedule will be to fill the Y cabin rather than F/J cabins. This does not make it likely for additional J reward seats.
What this new flight option does allow for is Delta to come in with additional capacity on SLC-YYC, this would allow one stop service to AMS using a combined KL and DL flights. This option is allowed under the US, Canada, and EU bilaterals.
