Oooh this subject hit a nerve!

After being subjected to this credit-card advertising on every flight from MCO to CLT, PHL, and PHX, I then get hit up in the terminal again and again. I too think of that 'Airplane movie' moment. At some airports such as BWI, you even get hit up by the Air Tran reps as you have to walk past them to get to US.
While in CLT, PHL, PHX I just ignore them and keep walking, it bugs me to see them harassing not-so-frequent travelers, especially elderly people under the guise of helping them out with directions, gate assistance etc, always with 'What airline are you flying today?'
At least in the airport you can ignore them, on the plane you can't. Especially flights to and from MCO, these cards are hawked by the FA's like you've won the lottery. 'We hope you are enjoying your flight today . . . ' (while you're trying to sleep), and then 10 minutes of listing every single benefit known to man. Some FA's go on and on, encouraging you to do your Christmas shopping, birthdays, graduation - whatever! It drives me nuts as you can't turn off the PA system. Pass out the applications with the drink cart if you must, but don't announce it! And no - this doesn't quality as IFE.
