It doesn't have to be the replacement "type" (that hasn't been built yet) - just any aircraft that is ordered to replace the 744 - so for example, if DL decides to order the 777-300ER (77W) to replace the 744, the NW pilots will get it. As for the 787s, it only applies to the first 18 that NW ordered; any additional orders on top of that would be open to all.
