I've not yet been fully investigated (only a single area investigation for a minor accidental mistake which was resolved a few years ago) but I have heard plenty of stories from peers....

I think it depends what kind of business you work in as to how they operate.

I know for sure that they are extremely clued up in the arena I work in (which used to be a largely cash-based industry until around 2000 onwards - as you can imagine, any cash work attracts fraud from dishonest types), using everything at their disposal including google, print media etc to help check where you were at a certain time!

That's why I am paranoid about keeping records of everything, and making sure that all my expenses claims are as accurate as possible.
