It is a UK benefit. However, some other posters say they have flashed their non-UK cards and been waved in without a check - I think that was at the former London terminus (Waterloo), not sure about St Pancras International.
However, some lounge dragons take things seriously. My wife was refused entry in Brussels because the card she showed had expired. It took a few words of persuasion before we were allowed in.
