Vote for USB. You will eventually come up against a machine that has only usb and no expresscard slot. Desktops don't for example. If you use it as a home back up adding a wireless router that accepts the usb modem will put you back in the game for multiple machines. I'm not sure if an expresscard specific wireless router is out there.
