keep in mind that just by operating flights, AA has a lot of revenue from Citibank and others. They sell advertisements on napkins for example. They sell ad space in American Way. They sell ad time on their IFE.

YES, American WAS losing a lot of money - $145 oil will do that. That being said, higher prices in January (higher by 50% in my travel searches) when I can buy gas for $1.60 seems odd.

I know that they haven't maximized the discount in oil yet, but they should have a much, much lower cost in January.
