You can request assistance from the airline for your girlfriend. If she is inexperienced at air travel and has limited English skills, that's what I would do.

You could phone the airline and ask what assistance is available and how to note her reservation and do the paperwork. As mentioned above, she needs to be alert to gate changes, etc.

Alternatively, you could work with your friend to make an English/Mandarin page of questions she could need answered, things like "What is the local time now?" "What is the gate number for my next flight?" "What is the best way to get to that gate?" and so forth. If she is confused, she could approach any uniformed person and make enquiries using her translation page.
