Actually purchase date often has a lot to do with pricing. Buy a ticket 11 months in advance, and it might be double the price, than if bought 2 months in advance. Given the recent unrest in Thailand, I'm sure that many people will cancel their flights. That means lots more available seats they'd like to fill. Feb is normally a pretty busy time in Thailand, travel wise.
All else equal, I respectfully disagree. Try buying a ticket now for next July and for next October to Europe. If I were a betting man, I would buy your July ticket if you found the October price more than the July price. But I am not a betting man.
