I did, and supervisor confirmed only rows 1 & 2 coded Star so only these can be assigned even though rows 3-5 mostly open, but what exactly Star Coded meant was explained as some type of restriction upon other Star carriers restricting seating in other then "star coded seats" - frankly, never heard of anything like this from UA or any other Stat carrier but this is my first ANA flight after my TG flights CXLed last week due to TG-LAX office closure (like their airport) and not providing any info to booked passengers.

"4A not coded Star" doesnt really sound like a response from a human being, more an error message.
If he called UA the agent should have been able to explain what that means.
If not, ask for a supervisor or Service Director.
