If you are flying non stop to the UK then back in Y, then I think it will be much of a muchness really.
BA Y will be ok serivce wise ( admittedly without status you will not be able to get a seat assigned until OLCI opens at T-24.)
BA has seat back PTV's ( the 747 has AVOD, the 777s are being requipped)
T5 is pretty good and is running ok now

Having just flown Northwest to MSP from AMS and Air France from LAX to CDG in the last week I would highly recommend both products.
I always did rate Northwest in Y however now that they have A330's it was very good. Plus alcoholic drinks were complimentary in Y which for an American carrier I thought was impressive in this day and age.
Air France was on a different level in Y. We all had champagne - served from a proper 750ml bottle - it was Monopol. Menus were given out as well which I haven't seen in Y for years. Plus the seats reclined quite a lot plus the legroom was more generous.
In Y AF and NW are better than BA I'm afraid to say!
