Advice on Xmas travel (how does BA compare to AF-KLM?)

I'm in the midst of planning the annual Xmas holiday this year and the routing I want is DXB-LON-CAI.
I have the option of BA flights (the 0200 747 service from DXB and the 747 to Cairo). The price is $600 per person and both flights go nonstop.
I also have the option of an AFKLM routing-go DXB-LON via AMS on KLM (the daytime 777 service) and return on the AF 777 to CAI for $586.
So...what should I choose? The nonstops on BA is a point for them, although I actually like transiting as well. Is their service that much better than AF-KLM? I've never been to CDG before and I'd love to see if it's all that bad. I'm also worried about what might happen if I misconnect on AF-KL.
I don't have a Skyteam to oneworld FFP so miles mean absolutely nothing.
FWIW, I'm travelling with 1 person, so we'll most likely be booking the middle seats on either the 777s or 747s.
Sorry for board hijack...there isn't exactly a 'Travel Dilemma Advice: Torn Between Two Options' forum on FT (if there is a similar forum, mods feel free to move this)
Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas!
