I’m as sick of eating in restaurants as the next guy, but some of those ideas are a bit over the top. Who the heck would travel with fresh eggs? Would the TSA consider egg yolks a liquid?

Even if you’re staying in the same hotel for a week, the thought of going out and buying a dozen eggs and a package of bacon (if your room has a fridge or minibar) to cook on an iron seems kind of silly.

As an aside, I read this at the bottom of the “How to make good hotel room coffee” page:

  • If the coffee pot has a dark, reddish-orange stain, it might've been used to brew methamphetamine, and the resulting coffee could be hazardous to your health. If there's a chemical smell in the room, that's another red flag.

  • Hotel coffeepots are rarely cleaned and people have been known to do foul things in them.
