After having automated upgrades for years on DL, CO (im gold via Amex Centurion) and US (im plat via Amex Cent) it may be a tough transition for me to go to a sticker system that, despite its extra effort, yields a significantly lower upgrade %. So I may need to be reasonably sure I get to EXP quickly.

-That non-stop ORD-DEL on AA is a big plus, esp. with the upgrade only costing a few hundred bucks vs. DL whom I'd have to fly over CDG on AF and not get upgraded b/c its on AF metal.
Like I said earlier, you are going to have to tough it out until you go EXP. My suspicion is that post EXP,your upgrade percentage, even out of a hub (mine is over 90% out of DFW), with some planning, will surprise you.

Or you could do a ORD-ATL-BOM-DEL on DL (except for the last leg).
