I find mentioning rare, unique exceptions to be less helpful than informative. If the OP works for a company that does these matches, they already know that; if not, I don't see the value in posting the likely irrelevant exception. It's like someone asking about upgrades on awards and someone always chimes in with "well, I got one." That, of course, doesn't help whoever posted question because, of course, the answer to every question is "yes"as it has surely happened to someone, and then there is no point in asking.
So, yes, you are correct, but this has provided more confusion than value, IMO.

But how is it different than saying flying BA accrues AA miles except between US and UK? It is not luck or an exception, it is the way it works and within rules.
I did not know about the match until after I completed my challenge. So its worth a mention when someone asks to go check with their travel department, especially now since there is a fee for the challenge.
