Thanks for the detailed information.

Just curious - if you found out what kind (or kinds) of visas will they presently issue from Buenos Aires?

The norm for tourists in the US now seems to be multiple-entry visas valid for 5 years, with some exceptions, but when I made an enquiry about a year ago in Buenos Aires, they told me they would only do 90-day visas here, and I think they were only valid for a single entry. I should add that I already had had a five-year tourist visa, which I had used to enter Brazil many times in the last year before it expired.

Since I had a trip to the US coming up, I made my application in New York, and got the five-year version. At the time I was still a bit annoyed, though, that in order to continue what had become a regular pattern of travel for me between Argentina and Brazil, I basically had to go back to the US first. Once I got a new 5-year visa, though, I was certainly quite relieved.
