Why not try both?! I flew BHX-ZRH-IST-MUC-BHX in on an award ticket in J earlier this year. Found the service in LX noticeably better, can't recall anything special about the LH seat in comparison. ZRH is more convenient to connect at, but MUC is a nicer airport to have to spend time in if your connection is a bit longer. I'd probably veer towards LX, but really there is nothing terrible about LH either!
I have a direct MAN-IST outbound with TK. I suspect it won't be as good as either LH or LX, but the direct flight swings it really.
Both connections at ZRH and MUC are only around the 60 minute mark so I was going to base the decision on the quality of flight rather than the connecting airport.
