The 16:30 departure from LAX that arrives in JFK, what kind of seat can I expect, I am not sure as the AA website talks about an old and new seat. Also the kind of service for a J class ticket? The equipment is a 762.

If I have a J class ticket as part of a rtw, can I use some of my AA Advantage upgrades and get Ms.747-444 and my self put into F?

Is the red eye that bad for this?

What other options are there, we would like to depart as early as possible to get as much time in in New York or as late as possible to get as much time in Los Angeles, we don't mind making a few stops to maximise tourist time.

Any suggestions?
