In many years of flying one of the, if not the, most memorable experiences was flying over the Golden Gate and into SFO at sunset - having also flown over the West Coast of Scotland at sunset, the same day.
You won't be able to do that in May and you can't both have the wrap round view of 1A (and perhaps there are different approaches) but it is a very long flight and if you want to make the most from begining to end, I'd question whether you want to arrive at the airport at some early hour to sit around in what is, as noted above, a nice waiting room.
Lounges are very attractive to those on the outside and while nice enough on the inside they're perhaps of less appeal than from the other side of the door (occasionally they're so bad that they're not worth staying in). That won't be the case at the CCR and of course there's free champagne but it's easy enough to get same in your local shops, there's food but it's easy enough to get better in your local restaurants, there are free newspapers and magazines but it's easy enough to buy them in the airport. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as a one off, but it may be better to leave wishing you had a few more minutes than wishing you had stayed in bed a bit longer and weren't feeling the worse for too much fizz at too early an hour.
