I too have noticed the lack of PDB's on my short TUL-DFW flights and vice-versa. I've even noticed the tray of OJ/Water on the morning flights dissapearing too! I just don't get how every other airline can manage PDB's but AA does not even seem to make an effort. After running to catch my DFW-TUL flight the other day I asked for an ice water once seated and you should have seen the look I got! Priceless!
