With electronics like dSLR where prices coming down and new models coming out continuously, I suggest one buying one when one needs it. If you need a camera tomorrow, buy it tomorrow. If you need one in 6 months, buy one in 6 months. There will always get cheaper, and there will always be a newer one with better features coming out in the future.
