As for meal service in F, AA determines that by flight time, not distance. Per aa.com:

First Class Complimentary Food Service
Complimentary food service is offered in First Class on all flights system-wide that have flying times over two hours and that operate within traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner times. Generally, a snack service will be provided on flights greater than two and a half hours that fall outside of a traditional meal time
.

Here's a recent discussion regarding meal v. snack
Does AA have a different definition of "traditional meal time" for national vs. international trips? I have a redeye tonight on LAX-JFK and it is only listing "snack or brunch" even though the flight leaves at 9:30 pm. For Latin America trips leaving from MIA they usually serve dinner (even in coach) for flights leaving up to midnight. I don't mind either way, but would love to get clarification on this...
