Hi,

I'm looking at buying a ticket from Delta's website from the US to Colombia. I noticed that the change fee is $250 USD.

I'm not too sure how long I'll stay, but I'd like to make costs minimal if I decide to come home early. I was thinking about buying the ticket for a return in 6 months, then trying to get a 'standby' flight early if possible.

Basically, I'd like to know if there are some tips on avoiding the exorbitant $250 change fee.
