I think Aeroplan is now beginning to charge for fuel surcharges on most *A partners with a few exceptions.
I just did NRT-x/ICN-HKG // SIN-x/HKG-NRT on a combination of OZ/TG/SQ/NH airlines, and Aeroplan dinged me fuel
surcharges for all carriers except SQ. Total charge came to over CAD$ 290 plus $30 service fee. YQ for OZ=$60, TG=$72, SQ=0

, but NH was highest at $140

The rest was airport taxes I think.
I'm happy cos its still a good deal for 30K miles despite the taxes and that there was simply nothing available from NRT-HKG-SIN-NRT so had to choose this convoluted routing. And found out that I couldn't stop in HKG and SIN. So opted for an open jaw instead.
Some other airline FFPs charge for everything, and yes Aeroplan once upon a time ago would have only collected the local taxes, but we have to accept that times are a changing. I still wouldn't book AC flights long haul though. It would still be higher than the above!
