I agree with what you are saying. The RA, for me, is more ego then benefit. It is a confirmation that they want my business.
If I was king for a day, then, I would do the following:
1) Change the RA qualification so it is not so it is not so nebulous. Put hard and concrete membership qualifications.
2) Create a second classification (Royal Platinum - perhaps) for those that tend to stay at the CP's, HI's etc. The reward for loyal patronage may be 50% off mini-bars and a free weekend night at a CP or IC.
I think almost all of us on this board are willing to chase the carrots they put in front of us if we understand the rewards.
