Strange thing - I have an online tel. service - PinCity. When I make an overseas call to UK, service tells me how many minutes I have, based on my balance. I called CP MAN, using area code (0)870, and service said, "you have 110 minutes". I had just made a call to an (0)161 (Manchester) number and service said, "you have 920 minutes" (number was busy, so balance remains the same). Thought maybe I mis-dialed and called some remote island in the Pacific, so tried again - same 110 number of minutes.
Does anyone (especially in the UK) have any idea why it costs around ten times more than I would pay - 2.2c a minute normally, around 21 c a minute to the switchboard of the CP MAN using their 0870 number. Do they make money on inbound calls by sharing revenue? They still have a fax line using 0161.
