T class fares have an AP requirement - normally 21 days in the UK. You are re-pricing within that 21 day AP period for travel. T inventory might well be available, but it's no use to you personally here. Therefore your T fare must be upgraded. Within 7 days of departure and subject to availability that would normally be an E fare these days. Since that window's gone too, it's likely pricing up a W fare. So the fare difference is the 50 quid fee, plus the difference between the T you paid and the prevailing W (+ any revised surcharges).
That's a sensible explanation, but are the AP rules just advance
purchase or also meaning advance
reservations?
I mean, if I buy an APEX21 ticket today for travel in 21 days, I am obviously not allowed to ring them tomorrow and move it back to next week.
But if I buy an APEX21 tkt today for travel in March, can I not call them on 05/01 and move it to 15/01 (assuming availability in the same booking class)? Isn't the idea that the airline needs to have your money 21 days before travel?
I am sure I have done that before (though can't recall exact details of airline/route/fare).
