Actually the better way to do it is to sit there parked in your car blocking the lane while your friend walks in for change. I probably wouldn't want to put my friend through that, though.
Edited to add: Double obnoxious customer points if your friend has to take a tram back to the terminal and QUADRUPLE points if your friend has to take a bus
