I've read all of the Vienna threads but am wondering what people's thoughts are to a specific question. I am going to Vienna in mid- to late-December. I can get a junior suite at either the Riding School or the Marriott. The difference is 40 Euros a night (the Marriott being the more expensive). The trip is purely for pleasure.
From what I've read here it seems the Ren has the better lounge but is farther from the city center. The Marriott is closer in but I haven't seen any reports on how their junior suites compare to the Ren's. It's not my first visit to Vienna and riding the tram from the Ren into downtown isn't a concern (as long as it's a relatively easy and quick ride) - so I guess the real question is are the suites and lounge at the Marriott worth the additional 40 Euros over the suites and lounge at the Ren?
"Character" of the hotel is an additional plus. I'm assuming the Ren wins in this category but would welcome comments. All of my previous trips I've stayed at the other Ren outside of the city on the way to the palace and am looking for something nicer. Thanks!
