Hi,

I flew into LAX at the start of November , i had cleared customs and immigration less than 30mins after arriving at the gate ( including collecting bags). Immigration just asked one question ( business or pleasure) and was friendly

No problem with departure bag screening after check in or security. The OW lounge was very good with very good food and facilities. Only a couple of bars, newsagents and Sees Candies after security though

The TBIT is currently undergoing a lot of renovations so some parts feel like a building site.

SFO- A beautiful terminal. Usually no problems at immigration or customs ( but my only secondary customs search was at SFO). BART very handy.

Lounge is standard Terraces, food selection in F lounge consists of snacks and limited sandwiches ( and ususally boarding from the lounge).
Last new year I was on VS Upper class and about 345 I went into the BA lounge ( open doors) and the both lounges were mobbed ( I had to stand whilst having a quick drink) due to a Cathay Pacific flight and the earlier BA flight being delayed so the latter BA flight was at gate A12).
If some better food was provided at SFO ( the VS cluhouse did an excellent steak and dessert) the lounge experience would be improved.

In summary-

Lounge experience- LAX
Airport SFO.

I would probably go to SFO ( unless going to Disneyland when lax is much closer!! )

Regards
