Tier point error in my favor...
...the big question being, will BA notice and take them back?
Here's the situation: I flew TATL recently, paid for CW (I don't know if it was C, J, D or what), and sat in F as my TA can usually get these automatic upgrades from CW --> F. At the very last second due to emergency, I had to change my flight and ended up flying the day after I was originally booked. When I got to the airport, BA had to re-issue the ticket, and there was some confusion about which class of service I was flying in. This was sorted out without too much hassle. I ended up sitting in F, which was a happy surprise since I was sort of expecting the upgrade to no longer be available at such short notice.
Cut to yesterday, when I returned from my trip and checked my EC account. Turns out I was credited with 180 tier points for that flight, instead of the 120 that a CW flight would normally get. I presume this resulted from the confusion at the time of ticket re-issue.
Thrillingly for me, that 60-point difference also happens to push me over the edge into renewing my Gold status for 2009. Otherwise, I'd probably end up having to do a MR on AA before my membership year expires in February.
So: will BA notice the error? Will they notice before Feb. 2009? And if they notice after Feb 2009--in which case I will not have done that MR--will/can they retroactively take away my Gold status?
