I'm not disagreeing in the slightest that the hotel in London sounds like the best option overal. Just looking at all the options.

with allowing just an hour to connect flights you would be really throwing yourselves at the BA staffs mercy to rectify you missing the onward flight.
sometimes you read through a 'plan' and it's got flashing hazard lights all over it.
sometimes you can pick up a cheap hotel via one of the car parking websites like holiday extras
