Depending on which mileage do you intend to clock the miles to. Virgin and SQ has agreement, you can earn mileage on KF by flying VS. But not elite miles which will get you the status, just the award miles.
VS Upper class is just as good as SQ, no point paying more for SQ.
SQ is just overly priced and I would by far avoid supporting them to teach them a lesson.
