Very good experience with Sheraton Libertador

I was in Buenos Aires for 5 nights in a 1 week period. The first night I stayed in The Sheraton Park Tower when using a free night from the you choose promotion. I then had a paid night ($119++) combined with 2 cash and points nights. I spent 2 nights in Iguazu and then one last night in the Sheraton Libertador on cash and points.

My initial stay was for 3 nights and I tried to check in at 1 pm. They said the room was not ready and would I mind waiting for 2 hours - when "the room" turned into the presidential suite I was very happy! I did get the presidential suite and it was great. The room was huge and the bathroom included a jacuzzi and a sauna. Wow. The size of the room was more impressive than the furniture, but the room looked nice and was a great score when I was paying so little.

The check-in was good. I received the suite upgrade without asking and I was offered the platinum amenity. I frequently had questions for the front desk (in lieu of a concierge) and they helped me with directions, taxis and smaller sized peso bills than the ATM was coughing out.

The hotel was a solid 4 star in my opinion. The Sheraton Park Tower was a true 5 star experience, and none of that was at the SL. However I had none of the bad impressions of some of the posts in this thread. A couple of times I noticed excessive people in the lobby and on 2 or 3 occasions I waited for 30 seconds for an elevator - barely worth mentioning. I found the condition of the hotel to be good. The location was perfect in the Microcenter area of Buenos Aires. I walked to many of the sights and felt like the city was at my fingertips (or footsteps in this occasion). There are more beautiful parts of the city, but for someone who values location for proximity rather than charm, than the SL is great. The lobby was nice and the employees appeared accessible and were helpful for my needs.

My second stay for the 1 night reinforced my opinions. With cash and points I was upgraded to the junior suite. I found the room to be a very nice and large room. In some ways, it rivaled the presidential suite - a little less impressive looking, but just as useful for normal vacation needs.

There are some really cheap and nice apartment options in the city which need to be considered when staying in Buenos Aires. My stay at the SHeraton Libertador will make me question if the value is worth giving up the convenience and the upgraded luxury I received during my excellent stays.
