Hi again.
Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed. Here it goes then, the return from HYD. On my return I wanted to arrive quite early to Rajiv Ghandi Airport ( HYD ) and have the chance to take some picture of the aircraft movement...it's not everyday that you visit India and see the domestic airplanes, but it became a big frustration, this because all the observation area is AFTER costums and passport control...you can imagine my bitterness...such a huge, modern and nice airport and for people that need to wait a few hours the only thing you have is a small bookshop and a small food shop, nothing else. Well after "counting" the minutes I finally boarded my flight, back to good old Portugal.
All I could get, the board of the flights and the airline counters, I'm sorry!
Date: 2008/11/11
Flight: HYD/AMS
Airline: KL
Flight Nr: KL874
Airplane: McDonnell Douglas MD11
Registration: PH-KCF " Annie Romaine"
Seat: 10A
Duration of flight: 9:40 minutes
The boarding went OK and soon I was on my way to my assigned seat, the plane wasn't full, maybe 70% of the seats were occupied.
The only possible photo of PH-KCF, just before I got in the plane.
After we took of we did quite a tight left turn and headed west again, climbing until our assigned flight level, FL340. Then we crossed Mumbai, Arabic Sea, the tip of west part of Pakistan and started to go up in Iran. Meanwhile it was served again that spicy soap and a cold salad, but this time the salada was so dry and so hard that I barely touched it. We kep going up in Iran, then the sun started to come.
After Iran we passed Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, over Armenia I saw this huge chain of mountains, quite big and full of snow.
Nice detail of MD11 winglet somewhere in the Caucasus.
Our flight kept going on smoothly, we crossed Caspian Sea, Black Sea and then we started to cross Ucraine.
After Ucraine we crossed Romania, then Slovakia where we climbed again, this time to FL360. Then we crossed Chech Republic, Germany and finally descending to AMS. Maybe two hours before we landed it was served the breakfast, I opted for the western type ( I'm absolutely full of indian food at that time...), it was served scramble eggs, sausage, potatoes, tomatoes, fruit salad, iogurt and cofee, very substancial indeed!!! Then, maybe 1:30 before our landing we did our final climb to FL400.
Then when we started to descent, again the weather started to change, clouds, cold and rain again...well, it's fall in Europe!!!
Already configured to land, slots down, flaps down, gear down and a nice and steady approach to Schiphol.
After a nice landing we headed to our assigned gate, I left the plane and took my last two pictures of the "beauty". First one with the wing and winglet.
Final one, just the winglet...so long MD11, I might not have the chance to fly it again, but certainly I'll never forget this plane!!!
When I arrived at AMS my nose was dropping, I felt bad in my stomach, I probably had fever and due to that I double crossed passport and baggage control TWICE!!! I think I lost my way to my gate. Anyway I finally found it and I was more than happy to get in that plane and come home!!!
Date: 2008/11/11
Flight: AMS/LIS
Flight Nr: KL1693
Airline: KL
Airplane: Boeing 737-9K2 "Plevier"
Seat: 6F
Duration of flight: 2:53 minutes
Here is our 737-900!!! Even sick I was very pleased to fly for the first time the 737-900, specially taking in mind that there are not many 900's flying in Europe and KL only have a small number of them!!!
Already seated, and ready to taxi into our runway.
Just a few moments after our take off, heading to North Sea.
Remains of Holland and climbing up to pass the thick layer of clouds we had.
OK, now things got better, we can already see blue sky, sun and a nice bright winglet of our 737!!!
Our route took us right above England, we passed right above London...
Here it is, the central London was on the other side!
Then we cross the Channel and headed to Bretagne Coast again.
Detail of our wing and our CFM engine.
Then we passed Biscay Golf, Santiago, Porto and finally LIS.
That's OPO airport down there. Shortly we started to descend.
Just the surroundings of Lisbon.
Just ready to land in RN21, it was quite cloudy in LIS too.
On the ground at Lisbon Airport and end of a great trip!
Well folks, that's all for now, I hope you liked it and thanks.
Best regards
